The New York Sour is a whiskey and wine-based cocktail recipe that was created in the 1880s by a bartender in Chicago, Illinois. This variation was adapted from The Essential Cocktail Book by the editors of PUNCH and Megan Krigbaum.

New York Sour Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients
 2 oz Bourbon
 ¾ oz Red Wine
 ¾ oz Lemon Juice
 ¾ oz Homemade Simple Syrup (Click for Recipe)
Method

Add bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and cubed ice to a shaker.

Shake for 10-20 seconds.

Strain into a lowball glass over a clear ice cube.

Carefully float red wine on top with a bar spoon.
