The Vieux Carré is a whiskey and brandy-based cocktail recipe that was created by Walter Bergeron in the 1930s at Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, Louisiana. This variation was adapted from The Essential Cocktail Book by the editors of PUNCH and Megan Krigbaum.

Vieux Carré Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients
 2 oz Rye
 1 oz Cognac
 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
 ¼ oz Bénédictine
 2 dashes Peychaud's Creole Bitters
 2 dashes Aromatic Bitters
 1 Orange Peel
Method

Add rye, brandy, Bénédictine, sweet vermouth, bitters, and cubed ice to a mixing glass.

Stir for 30-45 seconds.

Strain into a lowball glass.
