Cocktail History
The Lemon Thyme Gin & Tonic is a Sips From Scripts original cocktail that we created as a variation of the classic Gin & Tonic. It uses the original template but calls for lemon-flavored gin, adds lemon juice and homemade thyme syrup for more complexity, and makes use of Fitch & Leedes Indian Tonic Water.
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
Lemon Gin: This is the base spirit. We chose Malfy Gin Con Limone for its refreshing botanical flavor backed by zesty and bright lemon flavor.
Lemon Juice: This adds sour citrus flavors for balance. We prefer to use fresh citrus juice because it’s less bitter than the bottled stuff and tastes much better.
Thyme Syrup: This is a sweetener made with sugar, thyme, and water that adds the drink’s herbal flavor. We made ours using Alex’s simple recipe.
Tonic Water: This stretches the drink and adds tonic water’s distinct quinine flavor. We chose to use Fitch & Leedes Indian Tonic Water (gifted) in this drink.
Lemon Wedge: This is the garnish. It adds more fresh lemon aroma and flavor.
Tasting Notes
The Lemon Thyme Gin & Tonic features citrus aromas, the immediate taste of lemon thanks to the fruit juice and gin, a slight sweetness with herbal notes from the thyme syrup, and the classic bitter finish from the tonic
Our Opinion of This Cocktail Recipe: We thought this was perfect for warm weather and is a great pick if you want a G&T with a little something extra!
