Cocktail History
The Jingle Juice Punch is a Christmas cocktail that was created by Lena Abraham of Delish, an online food and beverage blog. The recipe, which is made by mixing two types of wine, cranberry, apple cider, gin, mint leaves and lime, is meant to be a large format drink that can be served to guests at holiday parties.
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
Red Wine: This is a type of wine made with red grapes. We used River Bend Winery & Distillery Sweet Red Blend. For a mocktail version of this drink, try Karuna Karviva Unwined Non-Alcoholic Malbec-Inspired Wine in place of the red wine.
Sparkling Wine: This is a carbonated wine made with white or red grapes. We used La Marca Prosecco because it has a crisp and refreshing taste with floral notes. For a mocktail version of this drink, try Gruvi Non-Alcoholic Prosecco in place of the sparkling wine.
Cranberry Juice: This is the liquid juice of cranberries. We used Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice.
Apple Cider: This is a beverage made with freshly pressed apple juice and baking spices. We used The Glass Orchard Apple Cider because it’s fresh, delicious, and made locally to us.
Gin: This is a type of gin made with juniper berries, botanicals, and alcohol that has been infused with flavor through redistillation without artificial ingredients or colors. We used Broker’s Premium London Dry Gin because it’s versatile and high proof. For a mocktail version of this drink, try MONDAY Zero Alcohol Gin in place of the gin.
Simple Syrup: This is a sweetener made with white sugar and water. We made ours at home using Alex’s stovetop recipe.
Cranberries: This is a small red fruit. We used fresh cranberries.
Sugar: This is white sugar that has been processed, crystallized, and dried so the crystals don’t clump together. We used C&H Pure Cane Granulated Sugar.
Mint Leaves: This is an herb. We used fresh Mojito mint.
Lime Wheel: This is a slice of lime that has been cut into a wheel shape.
Bartending Tools
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following bar tools:
Pitcher: This is used to hold ingredients. We used the Libbey 60 oz Glass Pitcher.
Spoon: This is used to stir the ingredients. We used the OXO Good Grips Silicone Spoon.
Jigger: This is used to measure and pour ingredients. We used the Japanese jigger from the A Bar Above 14-Piece Silver Bar Set.
Bar Spoon: This is used to stir ingredients. We used the Barfly Stainless Steel Teardrop Bar Spoon.
Paring Knife: This is used to cut ingredients. We used the OXO Good Grips 3.5 Inch Paring Knife.
Tasting Notes
The Jingle Juice Punch starts off with sweet red wine and has an initial sugary flavor that’s accented with fruity sweetness from the red wine, all with the added notes of gin herbs, tart fruit, and spices on an effervescent cranberry-tart finish.
Our Opinion of This Cocktail Recipe: Although not anything we’d call particularly complex, the Jingle Juice Punch struck a great balance between palatable and crushable. We both thought it would be a great option for a punch bowl by the buffet.

Alex’s Take: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
“I really don’t go for sweet red wines or sweet wines at all for that matter anymore, but this one did hit a bit of a sweet spot for me. Maybe it was nostalgia, but this reminded me of Christmas: cranberry, apple, spices, and sugar. Our substitutions to the original recipe were gin for vodka, a local sweet red blend for Moscato, and cider in place of the apple juice half of the cranberry-apple mixture, and we have to assume that the drink was all the better for it. I would totally make this as a punch for a party; however, I’d make sure to warn my guests of a nasty hangover they’re gonna have the next day due to all of the sugar.”—
Kendall’s Take: ⭐⭐⭐
“You really can’t go wrong with a cranberry apple-y sangria this time of year, and that’s exactly what this is. It tastes just like a souped up grape juice, which is what your Christmas party guests probably want. Me, on the other hand… I think I’m just not a huge fan of sangria anymore. I want more complexity than I’m supposed to get in punch-style drinks and think I prefer the Fall Sangria over this one if I’m using apple cider. This is still delicious and sure to please a crowd though, so please don’t let me stop you from making it!”
